Mum Nehali Khoche shares this healthy and easy khichdi recipe that she makes for her 1 year old baby:

  • Take rice and moong dal in a 2:1 ratio
  • Soak this for at least 15 minutes or more if you have time
  • Put the pressure cooker on low flame
  • Add some ghee (best if home made)
  • Add some heeng and jeera powder (cumin seed powder)
  • Add some garlic paste as well
  • Add some diced/chopped vegetables like potatoes, tomatoes, pumpkin or whatever your child prefers
  • Add water
  • Now add the soaked rice and dal
  • Add a pinch of turmeric powder and salt to taste
  • Add some chopped coriander leaves for a dash of taste and to add some colour
  • Close the lid and let it cook for 3-4 whistles
  • If your baby is very small, mash the entire khichdi to make it into an even smoother paste
